Carlos Yum has recently been appointed Director General of the “Gabinete de Implementação do projecto Hidroeléctrico de Mphanda Nkuwa” (GMNK), with the mandate to develop the 1 500 MW Hydro Power Scheme and the associated Transmission Infrastructure. Prior to this appointment, Carlos was the Chief Operating Officer for Electricidade de Moçambique E.P.(EDM), charged with the portfolio of Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Commercialization, including System and Market Operator. From October 2014 to August 2015, he was an Executive Board Member at EDM, responsible for the following portfolio: Electrification and Projects, System Planning, Market Operator, Business Development and Corporate Performance Unit. Carlos holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of Eduardo Mondlane University, and a range of certificates in regulation, management, and leadership.
