About Carly Allen

I have always been the person who steps in to do what must be done when no one else wants to. In relation to my medical career trajectory, I see huge amounts of need for primary care. There are large numbers of people who either have financial, social, or physical barriers to primary care and therefore they don’t receive care at a stage where morbidity and mortality are preventable. There is a high incidence of diabetes, drug and alcohol abuse, and communicable disease that need regular care and compassionate partnership with primary care physicians. In preparation I enrolled in my school’s Rural Health Track and I have chosen a residency program with a focus in Native Health and rural access. I am working to be the most effective communicator I can be: I want to be ready for rural practice and to be an advocate on a local and national level.One of the ideals that I hold paramount is that of social justice, mainly in relation to fair and equitable access. It is hard to communicate how much it means to me. Part of what appeals to me about being an Osteopathic Physician is the personal standard to which we hold ourselves. We can serve as an example of what it means to try to live a life above reproach and to be continuously working to better ourselves, both personally and professionally. I anticipate being a life long advocate for the Osteopathic Philosophy, personally, professionally and politically.
