About Carly Boyce

My Teaching Philosophy I ultimately desire to create an inviting, home-like learning environment that is calming and supportive of individuals who will someday grow into responsible and caring world citizens. I want to invoke a sense of curiosity, confidence, creativity and independence from my students as learners, while paying close attention to their social and emotional development. In order to seek these goals with all children, I interact with each child in a kind and firm manner that allows an intimate connection to form, yet a strong sense of respect between us both. I pay very close attention to the classroom environment so that children can function as independent as possible through all steps of their learning by keeping it very organized and designed for their size and ability. I encourage children to embrace all emotions, while giving them tools to express themselves in a safe way and move towards personal adaptation when they are faced with things they cannot change. I actively observe children to informally assess their progress on all planes of development in order to keep them challenged and excited about their learning. I encourage free play and individual expression across all subjects. I take even the youngest of children outside, so they can form their own connection with nature that I hope will contribute to a true love and respect for the natural world that they will learn to call home.
