About Carly Dick

2022 Alumni of Mount Royal University's CIDA accredited BA of Interior Design. Currently a Jr. Interior Designer with a robust background in business administration and human services. I enjoy planning a good party, spearheading my year's 2022 ID Grad Party, and on the 2023 organizing committee for Primarily It's A Party. My degree taught the beauty of design thinking, a plethora of creative & technical skills, and the tools to stand in the grey unknown. I am a contemplative problem solver, a pursuer of knowledge; the synthesis of complex and diverse information into explorations, design concepts, solutions, systems is a strength. Dance and theatre training honed memorization and improvisation skills, both assets to a good designer and problem solver. These scaling team environments made me an adaptive group member as both support and leadership roles, with experience resolving conflicts in group settings. I worked through my degree as a Community Support Worker for people with disabilities in Calgary. Through this, I learned to support people with diverse needs, styles of communication and interests. I have a passion for universal design and providing equitable access for all in public spaces; I believe my direct experience with marginalized people has given me insights into barrier-free design that I will carry with me for the rest of my career.
