About Carly Russell

I have over 25 years' experience of advising, and acting for clients in both contentious and non-contentious private wealth matters, UK domestic and international. I advise individuals, families, attorneys and fiduciaries in the administration and planning of substantial wealth and complex international affairs for the purposes of lifetime planning, succession, asset protection and tax, with the use of corporate vehicles and traditional trusts and wills. Formal governance issues will often arise within the matters I handle. I run high value and cross-border probate and trust matters. I work for, and on behalf of, people experiencing challenges resulting from their mental capacity, which affect their management of financial affairs and health and welfare. This involves Court of Protection actions, proceedings and applications, trusts for vulnerable persons and the use of Powers of Attorney. I have a passion for working with individuals to achieve their charitable and philanthropic objectives. I also work with charities in their continued management and development of their structure. I have a strong contentious private client practice, with my non-contentious expertise offering an edge to it. The types of common claims I will handle (for Claimants and Dependants) are dependency (Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975) claims, claims brought under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996, will challenges, trust breaches, claims by disappointed beneficiaries, Court of Protection matters, professional negligence, personal taxation challenges and charity management. I use Court as a last resort and strongly advocate the use of mediation to reach a sensible resolution.
