In the first 100 days of this administration, Eastern Washington's congressional representative has proved he puts party over district, playing small ball creating red tape for colleges as the unelected DOGE bros take a chainsaw to the social safety net for veterans, the elderly, children; as they make it impossible for family farmers to survive the one-two punch of climate and trade volatility. Meanwhile, the least qualified cabinet in U.S. history is actively destroying our economy, our trade partnerships, and our political-military alliances. As a third-generation Eastern Washingtonian and union member, I am running for Congress to restore our voice in the other Washington. In our majority working class district, health care is too expensive for most, and food insecurity is a daily reality for too many. First-time home buyers are priced out of the market, and failing bridges and sketchy broadband networks separate urban and rural communities, while the climate changes too fast for residents and farmers to adapt. Meanwhile, essential workers in agriculture, healthcare, residential construction, and food services are being terrorized and torn from their families without any chance to be heard by an unbiased fact-finder. The Supreme Court has allowed a state-by-state minefield of maternal and infant risk by withdrawing the Constitutional individual freedom of choice in reproductive health, and continued federal criminalization of cannabis infringes states' rights to regulate a substance no more dangerous than alcohol. Refusing to invest in our people is a policy choice, and Congress can change it. We can and must rededicate ourselves to forming a more perfect union for ourselves and our posterity.
