Background

About Carmen Chambers

I have a diverse practice in the area of general commercial litigation with a particular focus and experience in environmental and product liability defense litigation. Recent work includes representing chemical, automotive, and specialty-metal manufacturers, utility service providers, waste disposal companies, and heavy equipment rental companies throughout the United States. While I concentrate my practice on defense work, I have also had the opportunity to litigate complex disputes for plaintiffs. In June 2020, I served as second-chair in the first civil jury trial in Alabama since the COVID-19 shutdown and one of the first federal civil jury trials in the United States since the shutdown. In December 2021, I served as third-chair in a two-week state court civil jury trial, where I defended a 95 million dollar trespass claim involving per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). I am dedicated to providing pro bono legal services. I serve as Vice-Chair of Maynard Nexsen’s LGBTQ pro bono clinic, and I play a key role in the direct provision of services, as well as in outreach and training for the project. I received my J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where I served as the Senior Development Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. During my last year at Georgetown, I worked full-time as a student attorney in the Georgetown Law Juvenile Justice Clinic, representing youth charged with delinquency. I received the Dean's Certificate for my outstanding service to the Georgetown Law Community, along with a Certificate of Distinction for my contributions specifically to the LGBTQ community. Prior to Georgetown, I worked as a paralegal in the New York office of an international law firm. I received my B.A. in Psychology from Yale University, where I competed in spoken word and ballroom dance - two of my passions outside of the legal profession.
