About Carmen Dan

I began my career in environmental consultancy in 2003 at Auditeco Ges, where I progressed from Junior to Senior Consultant. Over eight years, I contributed to a wide range of environmental services, including due diligence across diverse industrial sectors, compliance audits, impact and site assessments, evaluations of environmental obligations and liabilities, environmental balances, risk studies, and the preparation of technical documentation for environmental permits, approvals, and water management authorizations. In 2011, I joined PwC Romania, where I currently serve as a Senior Manager in the Indirect Tax Department. With over 22 years of experience in environmental consultancy, I’ve led numerous buy-side and sell-side environmental due diligence projects for clients in sectors such as food production, livestock and feed, dairy, automotive, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, hazardous substances, wood processing, maritime ports, pulp and paper, oil & gas, construction, heavy industry, metallurgy, and metalworking. My expertise also includes advanced waste management practices—ranging from waste mapping and traceability audits to packaging waste strategies, landfill closures, hazardous substances management, and the design and implementation of waste reporting and inventory systems. Beyond consultancy and regulatory work, I’ve spent the past 14 years developing deep expertise in environmental taxation and ESG. I’ve led projects assessing obligations to the Environmental Fund, including taxes related to packaging waste, electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, industrial oils, and more. I’ve also provided support during inspections and legal proceedings, issued expert opinions, and assisted with taxpayer registration and reporting. In the ESG domain, I focus on evaluating corporate practices against ESRS and GRI standards, conducting ESG due diligence, and performing GAP analyses across various industries. I’ve been a frequent speaker at environmental events hosted by PwC Romania and other organizations, and since 2012, I’ve actively contributed to the Foreign Investors Council’s environmental task force—supporting regulatory reform, drafting position papers, and engaging with environmental authorities.
