About Carol Beck

Earned Master of Fine Arts degree in Film Production & spent 8 years teaching film production at the university level and working on independent productions including a documentary shot in Siberia. Relocated to Atlanta in 1993 to work full time for a “who’s who” of multinational corporations: GE, Coca-Cola, Ford, The Home Depot, P&G, & IBM among many others. Recruited to Emory in 2014 to develop communications and operations for special, non-curricular programs focused on the intersection of science and spirituality. Besides my extensive, independent work in Russia, I've trekked with the Pemon Indians in Venezuela, ‘cast’ kangaroos and koalas in Australia, location scouted from my kayak at an Olympic whitewater venue, and yelled ‘action’ among the castles of Budapest. I'm a specialist in shooting in developing markets including numerous production trips to China and India, and can make myself at home pretty much anywhere. I am particularly proud of the work I have done for the Emory-TIbet Partnership documenting a ground-breaking, mind-science collaboration between Emory University and several Tibetan institutions in-exile. My hands-on technical background, combined with a thorough understanding of the history, art, and theory of filmmaking makes me a unique-and creative-producer. I have an intimate knowledge of how things are crafted to impact audiences and the skill set to make it happen within the budget and scheduling parameters given as well as experience working with & interviewing figures as diverse as His Holiness the Dalai Lama, former president Jimmy Carter, and sports celebrities. I also write and was an Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award semi-finalist.
