My free time is spent reading, watching television, playing board and card games, singing, and spending time with family and friends. I enjoy romance or musical themed stories and lately I enjoy audiobooks while traveling to/from work and family. I love to sing and grew up singing the Broadway hits, but lately it’s more like medieval madrigals as part of the madrigal singing group “Renaissance Revelers”. We sing at one of the country’s biggest Renaissance Festivals in Crownsville, MD. Our group has recorded two CD’s that can be found for sale on Amazon.com. In my first year at St. Mary’s College I majored in mathematics as I had excelled in the subject high school but didn’t pursue that for long. After a few years changing majors and searching through the course book I determined what I liked doing most was the administrative support work I did during summer breaks. Watching my mom struggle with work, raising a family and going to school for her degree to eventually become a Certified Public Accountant, I decided not to quit school but to change to the University of Maryland to study and receive a General Studies degree. I have been working in the administrative support area for over 30 years. My motto when things go wrong has always been “I take the blame, let’s move on and fix it”. My love of learning new things, especially new technology and software, leads me to new and exciting tasks in my work and home life. Others tend to turn to me to help learn new software when it’s deployed. Learning new things and learning quickly has always been my strong suit yet I tend to go too quickly through things at times making more mistakes than I should. As I have gotten older I try to check things thoroughly before finishing to make sure they are caught but I’m human and miss sometimes. Although my body feels old, I can still mess around like a kid. I’m caring, friendly and committed to being a team player, yet still always working to improve myself.
