About Carol Marsh

I'm the Head of Digital Systems at Celestia-UK, an innovative Electronic Phased Array Antenna SME, where I’m responsible for expanding their digital systems capabilities in the UK and Portugal. I was previously Interim Head of Electronics Engineering at Leonardo, an executive role, overseeing the business’ electronic processes, tools and resource planning. I have 40 years of industrial experience. Alongside receiving the degree of Doctor of Engineering in System Level Integration from the Universities of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt and an HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Edinburgh Napier University, I have won many technology and diversity awards and was awarded an OBE in 2020 for services to diversity and inclusion in Electronic Engineering. From 2020 to 2023 I was a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor at Edinburgh Napier University, I began my volunteering career in the IET, when I became a Fellow in 2012 and since then I have been Treasurer and Chair of the Scotland South East (SSE) Local Network (LN), Chair of IET Scotland and Chair of IET Council. I am now a Vice President, Trustee, Chair of the Volunteer Engagement Board (VEB), Chair of the Engineering Policy Group Scotland (EPGS), a Fellow Advisor, and a Professional Registration Advisor and Interviewer. I am a Burgess and Hammermen of Edinburgh and sit on the Hammermen's Deacon committee; Vice President of the Royal Scottish Society of Arts (RSSA); Trustee of the Institution of Engineers in Scotland (IES); Member of the Engineering Scotland Board, National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) Board and the Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE) UK Advisory boards. I am a Past President of the Women’s Engineering Society (WES), a Chartered Engineer, EUR ING, Fellow of the IET, IES, RSSA and WES and a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers I enjoy presenting on both technical and diversity topics and have presented at approx 100 conferences and events in Europe and the USA. I have published 8 papers, including 2 journal papers and several articles for journals.
