About Carol McLaughlin

Carol’s interest in sustainable architecture began in graduate school while successfully combining her two passions of architecture and the environment in her master’s thesis. After graduate school, Carol moved to Chicago and began her architecture career working with Doug Farr as Farr Associates' first employee in 1992. During her 13 years at Farr, her skills grew along with the firm and it’s prominence on the cutting edge architecture scene creating high performance projects. As an experienced project manager, Carol has coordinated all phases of design and construction for architectural projects of all sizes. Her passion and knowledge of sustainability has been demonstrated throughout her career including serving as Project Manager for the City of Chicago’s first Platinum LEED rated municipal building, the Chicago Center for Green Technology. Carol worked on numerous other projects for Farr Associates giving her extensive sustainable architecture and planning experience highlighted by the projects below. Between 2010 and 2012, working with AltusWorks, Carol lead the green design and LEED documentation for the Edgebrook Elementary School Addition, a Chicago Public School (LEED Silver certified). 2014 Carol has teamed up with Danaher Design Studio to work on a bungalow addition in Chicago. Registered architect since 1995 U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional since 2004 Carol’s other interest include urban agriculture, soccer, and coaching basketball.
