Background
About Caroline Cunningham
BUILDER/LEADER/STRATEGIC THINKER/CONNECTOR Caroline Cunningham, the founder and CEO of Big Vision, has spent her career building successful projects of local and national significance. A passionate and creative leader, Caroline has extensive organizational development experience. Big Vision works with non-profit leaders, organizations and local governments to help them clarify their vision and build structure to succeed. This work includes coaching executives, advising on board development, growing strategic partnerships and laying out clear plans for success - building tailored solutions for each of her clients needs. Caroline was the Founding President of the Trust for the National Mall, the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service (NPS) dedicated to raising the necessary funds to restore and improve one of the most iconic landscapes in the world; the National Mall. By curating a powerful Board of Directors, coalescing a renowned National Advisory Council, and recruiting a skilled team, Caroline built the Trust into a fundraising powerhouse raising more than $180 million in combined private and public funds in seven years. Her success was acknowledged by The Washington Business Journal, which honored her with its 2013 “Women Who Mean Business” Award. In 2014, she was invited to become a member of the region’s powerful Economic Club of Washington. Caroline directed the CEO-driven Potomac Conference,(the think tank of the Greater Washington Board of Trade). Her strategic approach and relationship-building skills enabled her to coalesce CEOs, non-profit executives and local and state government leaders to build programs in the critical areas of homeland security, technology transfer, and health care. Caroline served as Executive Director of the Collis-Warner Foundation and held numerous political and nonprofit fundraising leadership roles including serving as the National Finance Director of the Democratic Governors’ Association. In these roles, Cunningham helped organizations succeed by bridging politics and personalities thereby delivering financial results.
