About Caroline Darin
My work as a science educator seeks to reimagine the way science education is taught, to engage all students, and enhance their opportunities to engage in scientific thinking. My curricular and pedagogical expertise includes culturally responsive teaching, arts integration into the classroom, and project-based learning. I have experience in curriculum development, culturally responsive teaching, sustainability education, and engineering and design thinking. I have held many leadership roles in my school including grade team leader, science department leader, data programming team, College Culture Committee, AP for Al, and most recently events coordinator. In addition to my full-time work as a science teacher, I am also a part-time PhD student in Science Education. I am beginning my dissertation proposal in the Spring of 2023 and am working on developing a dissertation that looks at the impact on attitudes towards science when using curricular approaches to engage girls and non-binary students in conversations and activities that use science as a tool of gender empowerment.
