About Caroline Jimenez

I am a current Senior at Mount Saint Mary's University pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a specialization in Applied Psychology. My current passions surrounding Psychology include clearing any negative stigma with mental illness, equality, and mental health. Through the courses, I have taken I have been able to study human behavior, thought, and feelings. With this knowledge, I have been able to share these practices with current actions happening all around. My career goal is to become an L.M.F.T with an emphasis in Trauma. Through courses such as Human Sexuality, Gender Issues in Psychology, Personality Disorders, Abnormal Psychology, and Developmental Psychopathology will strengthen my ability to understand all kinds of traumas and how they have affected others. I have previously volunteered as a Program Coordinator in an After School Program, in Boyle Heights. This position has allowed me to work closely with children and help them succeed in their education. The activities revolved not only around school work but also allowing them to socialize with one another. Because of this experience, I was able to better my communication skills with parents and also the children. Although unfortunately because of the community this school was in, there were bad situation some of the children were in. Even though I was not able to help these children in the way as a therapist can, I was still able to help these children receive the help that they needed. This experience has assisted me in furthering my passion for working with children, teens, and adults who have experienced traumatic events.
