About Caroline Salmon

I've always loved being outdoors, being practical, working with my hands and learning from the natural world. This passion led me to study Environmental Science (CIEEM accredited) at Northumbria University, where I focused my undergraduate dissertation on the associations between urban blue spaces and human health and wellbeing in parks across Newcastle upon-Tyne. During my degree, I gained experience as a volunteer with Northumberland Wildlife Trust and the Ouseburn Trust. As well as completing a Practical Reserves Management placement with WWT at the London Wetland Centre, giving me a real appreciation for the practical side of conservation. Now, I'm back at WWT London as a Reserve Warden, managing habitats, supporting biodiversity, and helping wetlands thrive. For me, the best part of the job is seeing the difference that the practical hands on habitat management we do has, not just for wildlife, but for those who connect with the space too. I am always keen to meet others who share a passion for conservation and the outdoors, and to keep learning new ways that we can protect and restore nature.
