About Carrie Wall

As a Research Scientist at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences for over 10 years, I lead the Ocean Acoustic Archives at NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information. These archives encompass water column sonar and passive acoustic data. My team of data managers, software developers, GIS experts and student interns works closely with our growing network of partners to provide long term stewardship and global discovery and access to nearly a petabyte of ocean acoustic data. My network of partners include those within NOAA - Fisheries, National Ocean Service, and Oceanic and Atmospheric Research - and outside of NOAA - U.S. Navy, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, National Park Service, Rolling Deck to Repository, and academia. I also lead several scientific research projects funded by NSF, NOAA Center for Artificial Intelligence and NOAA Fisheries. Prior to working at CIRES, I studied fish sound production using passive acoustic recording instruments from archival recorders and autonomous underwater vehicles.
