About Carter Nelms

Software Engineer, formerly a Mechanical Engineer, but ever an Engineer. Originally an HVAC project manager post-college, I decided to turn my coding hobby into a career. My past programming experience now includes- 4 years of software classes during my days at Lipscomb University - 2 years as a Matlab tutor and TA during college - 6 months at Nashville Software School - 4 years as a Software Engineer at a growing startup, LeadsPedia, Inc, where I currently work. Mechanically and logically minded, I've suffered from "the knack" since I was born*, and I thrive on finding the most optimized, efficient solutions to problems. My ideal work environment is constantly throwing new challenges towards me that rarely have cookie-cutter approaches. A creative and optimized programming solution is beautiful to me; it blurs the line where all of the numbers and the tech become art.(If you ever catch me rambling on enthusiastically about clever programming solutions, just clear your throat and stare at me until I get the message.) Even today, when not at work much of my time is spent learning new technologies via side projects.(Most recently I've been teaching myself Angular 2).* What's the knack?
