About Casey Attallah
Hello! I am a recent graduate of Christopher Newport University receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Biology in 2021 and a Master's Degree in Environmental Science in May of 2022. I have a deep passion for the Chesapeake Bay area and especially oyster reefs, having published my graduate thesis on the benefits of oyster reefs on the ecosystem. My thesis is titled "Mitigating Shoreline Erosion with Artificial Oyster Reefs in the Lower James River". After receiving my degree, I packed up my life and hiked all 2,194.3 miles of the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia. I am currently the Broodstock Manager for Oyster Seed Holdings Inc. located in Matthews Virginia, overseeing and leading the upkeep and maintenance of the adult oyster populations in preparation for spawn, as well as assisting in oyster husbandry and other aspects of oyster aquaculture. I live in Yorktown Virginia and plan to build my career in the Environmental Science field currently very open to moving where I am needed. I am looking for a position where I can apply the knowledge I have gathered academically, my leadership experience throughout my life, and my love for the environment.
