Casey studied at Fordham University, with majors in Humanitarian Studies and Anthropology and minors in Spanish and Latin American and Latino Studies. She has been involved with outreach and advocacy since high school and has continued this work during college as Director of the Student Coalition for Street Outreach, as well as in various internships. She also volunteered with people experiencing homeless and children in a marginalized neighborhood in Granada, Spain. In addition to her volunteer work, she conducted medical anthropology research in southern Belize, funded by a grant from Fordham University.
