About Casey Hightower

I have recently become a Nurse Recruiter for VA Boston. Having 11 years of nursing experience at VA Boston, I have developed a true understanding and passion for what it means to be a VA nurse. I began my career here as a new LPN after switching careers from sales/marketing. My plan was to gain some experience and decide if nursing was truly what I wanted to pursue. The patient population as well as the support for nurses at the VA was what drew me in and convinced me that this was where I belonged. After working at the VA for 1 year, I took advantage of the VA’s Employee Incentive Scholarship Program (EISP) and went to school to become an RN. Shortly after becoming an RN, I utilized National Nursing Education Initiative (NNEI) funds to complete my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. My career at the VA has been remarkable as I have been encouraged and supported in each step of my educational journey. I love sharing my experiences as a VA nurse with the VA nurses of the future. I can truly speak to how being a VA nurse and maintaining the ICARE values both in my professional and personal dealings has changed my life.
