About Casey Lapoint

I was drawn to engineering because I want to create the impossible. That passion is what drove me to reinvest in my education and pursue a career in the Aviation and Aerospace industry. As an adult student, I left my career in public service and began again from the bottom to gain experience in engineering and technology at Cree Inc. As I progressed toward my degree I have risen in my current position from a process technician into a new product development role and am now working on one of our companies most exciting upcoming offerings in the automotive space as a Development Engineer In university, I pursued a specialization in engineering computing. To build on my interests in programming and CAD design I sought out graduate level courses and undergraduate research opportunities in Finite Element (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. Combined with the on-the-job experience I have gained in product and process development, design for manufacturing, and automated testing in a rapid time-to-market environment, I have prepared to be an immediate contributor in the next stage of my career.
