I am a 27 year survivor of lymphoma and have been a cancer patient advocate for over 20 years and am a nationally certified oncology patient navigator. I founded the Hudson Valley Cancer Resource Center, now known as Hudson Valley Cancer in 2011 after my husband & father were diagnosed with incurable cancers within six weeks of one another in 2007 and my best friend of 25 years was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer at age 42 in 2008. Hudson Valley Cancer is a 501 c 3 nonprofit whose mission is to connect cancer patients, cancer survivors, families, and healthcare professionals with the necessary resources, services, and programs, on a national, state, local, and regional level to make their cancer journey easier. Hudson Valley Cancer is the only independent, non-affiliated cancer resource center in the Hudson Valley to assist patients regardless of diagnosis, income level or treatment location. Our website, hudsonvalleycancer.org is an award-winning navigational tool that helps patients and families locate specific resources to help ease the cancer burden. The website provides information of organizations and agencies to aid cancer patients such as : financial assistance, prescription assistance, co-pay assistance, durable medical equipment, lodging during treatment, transportation breast prostheses replacement head wear. insurance legal services careers and cancer Support services, including support groups, retreats, camps, legacy trips, bereavement services, survivorship support and organizations for caregivers are listed on our website, as well as a complete listing of scholarships available on national and local levels for high school students affected by cancer. We are the only independent, regional cancer patient advocacy organization in the Hudson Valley to serve patients located in the counties of Orange, Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Ulster, Columbia, Greene, Sullivan and Albany.
