About Casey Saylor

Casey is passionate about bringing high quality, engaging education to community members and workforce employees. Uniquely informed by social work and peer support, Casey skillfully merges adult education best practices with psychology and the peer support model to engage learners in a highly approachable manner that consistently receives positive feedback. Casey is the lead developer and manager of the Connections Project, a peer support program for older adults that doubles as a peer workforce training program for Maryland’s Certified Peer Recovery Workforce. The model has received accolades from many stakeholders, and Casey has supported sites in several states to replicate the program in their communities. Casey’s experience in volunteer management is also a unique asset when recruiting, mentoring, and managing colleagues. Her management philosophy is grounded in relationship building with the understanding that 1) individuals work best when they feel appreciated, supported, and valued, and 2) it is just as important that individuals enjoy the people who they work with as it is that they enjoy the work itself. While leading the Connections Project’s, Casey’s volunteer retention rate maintained higher than the national average for several years, with 93% of current volunteers expressing intention to continue volunteering “for the foreseeable future.” One volunteer wrote in their annual evaluation, “It is incredible how much Casey does for me and my participant. It is really a pleasure being a part of this Connections Project to see what Casey does next.”
