About Cassandra Putnam

Cassandra Putnam recently received her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. She is currently a Title I Teacher through NonPublic Educational Services where she teaches reading and math to students in grades K-5th. She is also privately tutoring three elementary age students in reading and math and substitutes in local school districts. Along with her current experience, Cassandra Putnam has several experiences working with children in different structures and settings. Cassandra Putnam was a 2nd Grade teacher at Fairfax County Public Schools. Cassandra enjoyed teaching small group instruction and learning from veteran teachers. With a great passion for instilling children with the love of learning, Cassandra believes every child can learn through the use of differentiated instruction to ensure every student succeeds and has fun while doing it. Cassandra taught for more than a year as a 2nd grade teacher at Oxon Hill Elementary School in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Cassandra also student taught at The Professional Development School (PDS) at The Pennsylvania State University teaching 5th grade in all core subjects. Cassandra has a passion for teaching students who need more academic support. She loves helping children gain their confidence in a subject they struggle with. These grateful learners are a pleasure to teach and as a teacher, Cassandra feels she is immediately teaching them important academic skills they can use in his or her regular classroom. Additionally, she served as a camp counselor for three summers leading upper elementary school students in a variety of activities that range from art, archery, tennis, swimming, and team bonding exercises. Cassandra enjoys travel, spending time outside, taking in the culture of Washington, D.C, playing board games with friends, and spending time with family.
