As Deputy Chief, possesses leadership and technical advisory experience as it relates to the mission of emergency management from the operational and strategic levels. Have a solid working knowledge of Federal, state, and local government organization structure. The Operations Capabilities Branch maintains a diverse and professional team of emergency managers and subject matter experts equipped with the knowledge and skillsets to excel in delivering life-saving operational capabilities divided across three Sections comprising approximately 50 employees. Overall Section capabilities include national level programs covering air operations/aviation management, mission assignments, the WEBEOC/Crisis Management System, operations cadre management, and four highly visible national emergency evacuation contracts covering, aviation ground support and air transportation, fleet management/passenger operations and general population and emergency medical services evacuation planning and operational support services and must: • Provide advice, subject matter expertise, and supervisory oversight of staff that performs work involved in managing and coordinating emergency response activities during steady state and responses. • Prepare guidance focused on emergency response issues that comply with and follow emergency management-related directives, regulations, policies, laws, standards, and guidance to provide response capabilities that address all hazards. • Issue direction and perform substantive work to build emergency management resources and capabilities and ensure their readiness based on analysis of risk and need. • Perform as an emergency manager, and participate regularly in efforts to exercise, validate, and execute emergency management capabilities. • Build and maintain relationships with other Federal Agencies, non-governmental organizations, headquarters, field, and regional entities, including regional Operations Integration and Operational Planning Branches.
