About Cassidy Carlson

I'm a scenic carpenter, technician, and designer who has been involved in technical theatre since the age of 13. Since high school, I have been building sets and executing drafting, thanks to a robust school theatre program. In my theater education at UC Santa Cruz I designed a show each quarter, and was employed by their scene shop for my full three years, where I gained key knowledge and experience in working in a shop with fellow carpenters, as well as instructing other students in safe and effective tool operation. Post-grad, I accepted a one year fellowship in scenic construction at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, where I received a year of full-time, professional-level scenic experience. At Berkeley Rep, I was able to further hone my carpentry skills as well as gain true hands-on experience welding, rigging, and loading in and out a total of seven full scale productions. While scenic construction is my passion, I am also a sound and media designer, and a stage technician with eight years of experience. Parallel to my theatrical endeavors, I am a graphic designer experienced in designing posters, tickets, programs, and social media graphics.
