About Cassidy Whitefield
As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences (UQ), I am passionate about developing new herbicides for weeds of national significance. With the help of computational and experimental methods I design and test novel molecules that target specific enzymes in weeds, aiming to reduce the environmental and economic impacts of invasive species.I completed my PhD in Chemistry at the Australian National University (ANU) in January 2023, where I studied the structure and inhibition of Cancer proteins. I developed skills in protein purification, structural analysis, and computational modelling, and published multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals. I also obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Structural and Chemical Biology from ANU.
