About Catalina Luca

I am Catalina Luca, a biomedical engineer and academic professional driven by a strong passion for innovation, continuous learning, and the responsible integration of technology into healthcare. I currently serve as a University Lecturer at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Grigore T. Popa” Iași, Romania, where I am actively involved in educating and mentoring future bioengineers and physiotherapists, with a focus on translating scientific knowledge into real-world impact. Alongside my academic role, I act as a Medical Devices Non-Key Expert, contributing technical, regulatory, and strategic expertise to support the development, evaluation, and safe implementation of medical technologies. I am particularly interested in bridging engineering, clinical needs, and innovation ecosystems. I am also the CEO and Founder of ALIGNESPINE™, a spin-off startup focused on developing innovative solutions for spinal health, transforming research outcomes into practical, patient-centered applications. With a background as a Medical Bioengineering Specialist and a PhD in Science, I am committed to shaping the future of healthcare through interdisciplinary collaboration, research-driven innovation, and lifelong learning. My work sits at the intersection of academia, medical technology, and entrepreneurship, always guided by impact, sustainability, and patient safety.
