Background

About Catalina Vasquez

I am a passionate and experienced Early Years educator committed to nurturing the holistic development of young children through play-based, child-led learning. With over a decade of teaching experience in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), I bring a deep understanding of child development and the principles that support meaningful, engaging learning experiences. I hold a PGCE, QTS, and NQT status from the UK, and earned a Master’s degree in Second Language Learning and Teaching with distinction. My research focused on bilingualism and the role of dual language books in supporting vocabulary development—reflecting my strong interest in language acquisition and inclusive education. Currently, I lead the Reception Year Group at Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong, where I also teach a Reception class. In this role, I actively champion inquiry-led learning and the power of purposeful play to inspire curiosity, independence, and early conceptual understanding. I am deeply committed to creating nurturing environments where every child is supported to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.
