About Cate Barton

I am a student in the dual degree bachelor's program between Sciences Po Paris and Columbia University. I completed my first two years at Sciences Po's Asia focus campus in Le Havre, France where I studied Political Humanities with a minor in Law. I am now pursuing a BA degree in Film and Media Studies at Columbia University. I am taking many film theory and analysis classes as well as screenwriting and film production labs. I also take a wide variety of courses outside of the film department which still cover cinema including courses through the French department, Slavic studies, race and ethnicity, and women and gender studies. I am currently looking for any and all experiential opportunities relating to the film industry here in NYC and abroad for the summer including internships, production assistant jobs, and more. I have worked on various student films including my own short films which can be found on my YouTube channel and peers' student projects. You can access my blog, Deficient Media, to read many of my course essays as well as more personal opinion pieces related to film. I am conversationally fluent in French and I have many years of experience in the service industry and in education as I have taught at many schools around the world. I am always looking for work in any sector whether it is related to film, restaurants, teaching, or anything else. My main priority right now is to hone various skills in the film industry.
