About Catherine Downey

Born and raised in the Midwest, I have always loved all things fashion, beauty, arts, food, and culture. I graduated cum laude from Amherst College where I majored in Anthropology, played varsity field hockey all four years, and was involved in many student organizations like Amherst College's African and Caribbean Student Union Dance Company. After college I worked for two years and then completed a master’s program at the University of Pennsylvania. It was in this program where I found the field of law and realized that I could pursue my passions in a legal career. Throughout law school, I participated in a variety of internships relating to the arts and entertainment, including Milwaukee World Festival and The Authors Guild. In addition, I spent the fall 2022 semester at Cardozo School of Law where I studied fashion law, media law, and professional sports law. Since 2023, I have been working at SAG-AFTRA in the Entertainment Contracts department where I delve into intellectual property, contracts, and film legal issues all on a daily basis. I hope to support and advise creatives in their work as they pursue their passions as well.
