About Catherine Jones

After 24 years at the same school I took a break from full time teaching due to family circumstances and started life as a supply teacher. Unsure of what new challenges I would encounter I have found that every day is different and that it still comes down to building relationships with children and trying to do your best for them. Having started doing day to day supply I have done two long term placements and gained from working in a team and being flexible in supporting my full time colleagues. My experience over 25 years since qualifying has covered curriculum roles in PE, Maths and Leisure Studies at GCSE/A Level & BTEC levels 2 and 3. In addition my role encompassed working in many different pastoral teams, mentoring, working with more able students, SEN departments and as PE coordinator in the local primary schools. I welcome new challenges and enjoy the experience of working in a team. I have a keen interest in nurturing children whatever background or ability they have and throughout my time as a teacher my proudest moments have been when I have seen young people gain self esteem and confidence and achieving when they didn't think it was possible.
