Jon Kabat-Zinn Catherine is a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience helping individuals through transition and personal growth. After growing up in Colorado and graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara, she began her professional journey as an advocate for community building, leadership development and health and wellness. After working at National Outdoor Leadership School in Mexico and Director of an Environmental Educational program in Hawaii, she moved to the Bay Area and received her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University. Since that time, she has worked as a psychotherapist, consultant, supervisor, counselor and Founding Director of a New Parent Support Center. As a therapist, she supports individuals develop a sense of purpose and meaning in life through building their inner self and confidence. Her extensive training is focused in research-based interventions for strengthening relationships as well as clinically efficacious modalities for anxiety and OCD. Her approach tends to be solution-focused in nature and hold a strong commitment to seeing each individual as their own expert. She collaborates with her clients using integrative modalities such as developmental psychology, attachment theory, CBT, Somatic and Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy to help each client build on their unique strengths they need to shine. She is certified in Parent-Based Treatment for Childhood Anxiety at the Yale Child Study Center, a certified Gottman Educator and a certified Parent Coach as well as a Girls Leadership educator. She is also trained in both Surf Therapy as well as Mindfulness-Based Ecotherapy. She enjoys surfing, hiking and exploring the outdoors and lives with her husband and two teenagers in Encinitas, CA.
