About Catherine Luck

Experienced Laboratory Researcher with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. I am passionate about learning new things and applying skills to solve important problems. Through my work as a laboratory technician for both the Centre of Microbial Chemical Biology and the McMaster X-Ray Diffraction Facility, I have acquired skills in tissue culture, mass spectrometry, microbiology, protein crystallization, and SAXS, as well as other basic laboratory techniques. I am responsible for training users on various pieces of instrumentation, and using the equipment myself to meet experimental goals. I provide safety training to facility users of a biosafety level II laboratory and an x-ray diffraction facility, and help maintain the function and accuracy of instruments by troubleshooting, keeping detailed logs, and repairing equipment on an as-needed basis. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my dog, baking, playing soccer and softball, and watching sports.
