About Catherine Payne

Many businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors have experienced significant challenges, over the last five years and I have been actively involved in advising such businesses throughout these times.I am a partner at gunnercooke, a leading, award winning, top 100 UK ”challenger” law firm. At gunnercooke I have access to 350+ trusted, specialist colleagues who can support you on every conceivable business or commercial legal issue. For example, I’ve recently worked with insolvency colleagues on exit solutions, and teamed with finance colleagues on re-gearing lending and investment arrangements. Throughout, I remain my clients’ principal point of contact, and will not pass you ‘down the chain’.I advise on commercial property acquisitions and disposals, terms and conditions of sale and a broad range of commercial matters, such as concession agreements, distribution and licensing agreements. I act for many fantastic small/medium pub groups, bars, coffee shops, restaurants and hotels. I enjoy working with enthusiastic, entrepreneurial individuals and organisations to help them turn their exciting visions into reality. In my previous career, as production director of a leading educational publishing house, I worked to stringent timetables, financial constraints, and made strategic decisions daily. I bring this commerciality into my legal work. I approach relationships with candour, empathy, and I always work collaboratively to find solutions to client challenges and I love to celebrate your success.
