About Catherine Pearson

Catherine Pearson, CMA, is a Senior Accountant for Sechrist Industries, a medical equipment manufacturer in Anaheim, CA. After starting her accounting career in a small CPA firm in the UK, Pearson decided that private industry accounting was a more interesting field than public accounting. She worked as a Purchase Ledger Clerk before being promoted to Management Accountant at Bakkavor, a leading multinational food manufacturing company with over employees worldwide. While working full-time, Pearson completed the Association of Accounting Technician’s (AAT) qualification before moving to the United States in 2008. Here, she continued her education, graduating with honors from El Camino College, Torrance, with an Associate’s Degree in Business Management, and then graduating with honors from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting and information systems. While a student at CSUF, Pearson was an active member of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) and held numerous Chair positions. In her last semester, she obtained an internship with Sechrist Industries. The company then hired her as a full-time Staff Accountant upon graduation. In July 2017, she was promoted to Senior Accountant. Pearson is not only responsible for the accounts receivable function and the payroll for almost 100 employees, but also performs multiple account analyses and special projects to assist management in their decision-making processes. She has had experience in training and partially supervising temporary employees and department interns. Pearson is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designated in 2016 by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
