About Catherine Schmidt

In my capacity as a licensed psychologist with over a decade of experience, I help clients make sense of their problems, recognize the resources and strengths they have within, and learn science based tools for lasting change. My expertise has been featured in various publications and on podcasts including Happiness in Progress, Modern Motherhood, Connecting and Finding Meaning. Past leadership positions include board member of the San Francisco Psychological Association and chair of the Early Career Professional Committee. I have had the opportunity to hone my skills in diverse settings such as community mental health, private practice, substance abuse facilities and forensic crisis unit settings. Previous clients describe my style as compassionate, honest and goal oriented. I believe in infusing humor and creativity- change can be hard but it can also be enlightening and fun. When we as humans feel comfortable enough to explore our assumptions, trauma, and difficult feelings, we begin making choices differently. Needs, boundaries, and passions become fully realized. Relationships become more meaningful. And this ultimately leads to what I consider the greatest privilege of my career: watching my clients go on to live fulfilling, joyful lives.
