About Catherine Selby

Catherine's professional experience in New York City, in the dual role of project architect/project manager, and now partner at Dattner Architects, has included work in the private and public sector on education, library, museum, healthcare and residential projects inclusive of programming, master planning, and sustainable, architectural and interior design. Institutional clients have included NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), Lincoln Center (Juilliard School & Alice Tully Hall), Princeton University, New York University, Brooklyn College, the New York Public Library, Grace Church School, NY Presbyterian Hospital, NYU Downtown Hospital, Winthrop University Hospital, Hospital for Joint Diseases, and Lutheran Hospital. She has also worked with public agencies at the municipal, state and federal levels.Catherine brings to the profession a diverse background in corporate art, advertising, sculpture, academic research in architecture and landscape design, and a passion for socially responsible environmental design. Before pursuing architecture full time, her prior experience includes work at Shearson Lehman Hutton’s corporate art division, Colnagi USA, Ltd. old master art dealers, Interview Magazine’s advertising department, and research at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, and Yale University’s School of Architecture. While at Yale, she was teaching assistant for architectural critic Vincent Scully, landscape architect Diana Balmori, and sculptor/architect Kent Bloomer. She has also served as a juror and adjunct professor at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in the Interior Design program. She is also accomplished in sculpture and bronze casting having studied under Sidney Simon at The Art Students League of New York from 1990-92 and currently takes ceramics at the Education Alliance's Manny Cantor Center on the lower east side.
