About Catherine Walker

I have worked as an English tutor since 2005 in a whole variety of companies, both large and small, in all manner of areas ranging from car manufacture to the aerospace industry, retail and printing firms, jewellery companies, logistics operators and many more besides. It is my conviction that when I teach a language, I am not teaching just the grammar or the vocabulary, but also the culture which surrounds and informs the language. Language learning is more than words and phrases. It means adjusting the way you see things, opening up to a new mindset, developing a new worldview. I create the courses I teach around the specific needs and interests of each individual. I see it is as my duty to open up a door into the inner life of each of my learners, to find the key to their motivation. I believe this is what sets me apart. I have also more recently extended my skills set by teaching university courses at IAE Lyon 3, de l’IUT de Lyon 2 and the Ecole de Condé (an arts school).
