About Catherine White

Throughout my 20-year career in education, I have worked in a variety of settings and roles including classroom teacher; adjunct faculty at Salisbury University; literacy interventionist; school improvement team member; administrator; committee chairperson; Middle States Commission on Higher Education peer evaluator; and teacher professional development creator and presenter. These diverse opportunities have all served to make me better, in my career and life, because I have collaborated with some of the best leaders, administrators, and professionals in education. Along with improved pedagogy, these individuals modeled the importance of personal relationships. As an educator, I pay close attention to the individual and collective needs of my students, co-workers, and staff. I prioritize the needs of others, respect people’s values and beliefs, and actively listen to others to learn and grow, as well as to provide others with my best. I am a strong leader because my previous experiences required me to manage large teams of people of varying ages, races, and backgrounds. My effective leadership style motivates others to work hard; I respect people’s time, maintain a high level of organization to meet deadlines, and lead myself and others to succeed. I am detail and goal-oriented, so I work with a long-term vision in mind while developing and completing short-term checkpoints along the way because short-term accomplishments ensure continued progress toward the vision. I am an advocate for my students - academically, socially, and emotionally. I possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling students and other stakeholders to trust in the guidance, information, and advice I provide. My dedication, professionalism, and team mentality at my previous employers have fostered strong working relationships with my supervisors, administrators, and colleagues.
