About Cathryn Setz
Literary history researcher and tutor in twentieth century literature working on Anglo-European modernism, print culture, and the public sphere. I work on magazines of the interwar period, with special emphasis on avant-garde works, popular biology and its literary satire, and Djuna Barnes. My first book (Primordial Modernism: Animals, Ideas, transition (1927-1938), Edinburgh University Press, 2019) is a study of Maria and Eugene Jolas's international journal, and together with Elizabeth Pender I'm co-Editor of a new volume of Barnes scholarship (Shattered Objects: Djuna Barnes's Modernism, Penn State University Press, 2019). I have a BA from the University of Sussex, and an MA and PhD from Birkbeck College, University of London.
