About Cathy Pick

I stepped out of the workforce in 2016 to pursue my academic goals. Student leadership experiences led to uncovering my passion for justice and community advocacy. In August 2021, I achieved my lifelong dream of obtaining my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Washington. I am already working towards the next goal by actively working towards my Masters Degree from Western Governors University. Aging out of foster care left me with a grim outlook for my future. According to the National Foster Youth Initiative, “only 6% of kids who age out of the system will attend an institution of higher learning and only 50% of them will be able to graduate with a degree.” Since there is less than a 3% chance to earn a college degree at any point in my lifetime, I am an outlier by earning both an AS and BA degree.
