About Cathy Santos

I have six years of experience working in federal government, NGO and academic settings with a focus on implementation science research, program monitoring and evaluation, data analysis and visualization, and strategic information. Currently working at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a Global Health Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Fellow, where I analyze and visualize data for the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in Angola. I also provide technical assistance and training to local partners and health ministries on data quality and analysis, and conduct data quality improvement activities at the site and national level. I have a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Columbia University, with a focus on sociomedical sciences and global health. I have previously worked as a Healthcare Delivery Research Associate at NYU Langone Health, where I managed research activities for a $4-million evaluation of physician behavior change interventions. I have also contributed to multiple publications on the impact of COVID-19 on HIV services and recovery from severe COVID-19 disease. I am passionate about health equity, evidence-based public health programs, and data-driven decision making.
