Cathy Shimmin is the Senior Training Consultant at the Directory of Social Change. The purpose of this role is to ensure charities and those who work in this sector have the training, resources and information they need to help their beneficiaries. During her 20 plus years at DSC she has also worked as Senior Training Manager, Courses and Conferences Manager, In House Training Manager and Projects and Development Manager. With a background in voluntary sector infrastructure and support organisations in Ireland and the UK, Cathy has 25 years experience in learning and development, with both individuals and organisations. She has worked with marginalised and ‘hard to reach’ * individuals as well as CEO’s, senior managers, staff and volunteers of voluntary, community and charitable organisations.* Prefer the term “easy to ignore!” Her training specialisms are in communication and interpersonal skills, sales and business development, leadership, management and organisational development. She is an ILM qualified and experienced Performance Coach who has worked with Senior Managers, Directors and CEO’s. Cathy was a member of the DSC Leadership Team for 14 years where she contributed to organisational development, strategic planning, financial management and budgeting, and business and product development. She now focuses externally to ensure DSC services and products reach those who can make best use of them to develop our sector.
