About Cathy Xu

I am a Masters student in English at the University of British Columbia with a focus on Asian Migration Studies and Queer Studies. I completed my bachelor's degree at Davidson College in Transnational Literature with Honors, Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, where I wrote my honors thesis,"Revenge of the Mooncake Vixen: Asian American Female Shapeshifting and Worldbuilding." I have also been the recipient of the Abernethy Endowment Grant, Justice Equality Community Grant, Stories (Yet) to Be Told Grant, SPIKE! Grant, and COVID-19 Creative Initiatives Grant. My interests are in positions within publishing, museums/galleries, and non-profits as means of storytelling and collaborating with community organizers, writers, and artists. I am passionate about using my skills in editing, writing, research, and conducting oral histories to produce accessible public programming and materials for wide audiences that addresses contemporary issues. I am also interested in freelance work in writing, editing, and illustration. I look forward to networking with you!
