About Cavan Chai

Cavan Chai Han Hon is a highly accomplished geotechnical engineer with over 11 years of experience in the field. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2012 and has since gone on to achieve numerous professional certifications, including his Professional Engineer license in 2021 and certifications for Competent Person (CP) for Façade Inspection, Qualified Erosion Control Professional (QECP) and Design for Safety Professional (DfSP) in 2022. Throughout his career, Cavan has worked with Consultants, Statutory Boards, and Contractors on a variety of projects. His extensive experience includes supervision of large-scale underground projects, geotechnical design and construction projects for deep foundations, excavations, and slope stability, as well as full structural investigation and periodic structural inspections for industrial buildings and earth retaining structures. Cavan's notable supervision projects include Contract N109 North South Corridor, Contract C883 Cantonment Station for Circle Line 6, and Contract T215 Mount Pleasant Station for Thomson East Coast Line, where he served as Senior Resident Engineer (SRE) and received recognition for QPS Safety Award in ASAC 2022. He has been part of the QP(S) team for LTA contracts since 2014. Cavan's experience in design and supervision of ERSS works is also extensive, with projects such as the construction of an underground chlorine contact tank at Bedok Waterworks, basement construction of an 11-storey building at Media Circle, One North, and underground mechanized carpark at Upper Serangoon Road within the Railway Protection Zone including construction decking works, as well as Contract T2115 advance earth works at Mandai Depot. In addition, Cavan has worked on a variety of structural design and supervision projects, including showflat, private house, and industrial steel platform structures, safety barriers, and façade design. He has also assisted numerous clients in retaining previously erected unauthorized structures by regularizing with all the relevant authorities such as URA, JTC, SCDF, and BCA. Cavan has also assisted many contractors in their design and implementation of Earth Control Measure (ECM) as per PUB requirements.
