Background

About Cecelia Moore

My name is Cecelia Moore, and I am currently working as the Deputy Director of Education. I have been in this role for a little over a year now. My professional background prior to this role was a classroom teacher for 11 years in Fulton county schools. I taught Georgia pre-k for five years, kindergarten for five years, and second grade for one year.In my current role as Deputy Director of Education, I train and supervise a team of education specialists. I developed the curriculum for our after school programs academic hour and four our summer camp for kindergarten through eighth grade students. I also developed our K-8 academic enrichment curriculum. I am very passionate about education and community outreach. When I was a teacher, I wore a lot of leadership roles in my school and in my community. To name a few, I was the grade level chairperson for the kindergarten team, vice president of our schools SGC, and chairperson for my schools all girls mentoring committee. I also completed the K-2 Phonics Pathway with Fulton County schools.I have a masters in curriculum instruction. My bachelor’s degree is a dual degree in elementary general and special education and I am certified to teach general ed or special ed for pre-k through fifth grade in the state of Georgia. I completed a science endorsement through METRORESA and had it added to my teaching certificate. Having this endorsement enabled me to serve as the K-2 science ambassador for my previous elementary school. I also have a coaching endorsement, and I am currently enrolled at Mercer University in the teacher leadership specialist degree program with only two more semesters left. I plan to pursue and obtain my doctorate degree when I am done with my specialist degree. Off the clock, I do a lot of mentor and volunteer work in my community. I volunteer for the (Big Brother Big Sister) organization on Saturdays mentoring older girls, and I also volunteer in the kitchen at a local women’s shelter. Some of my professional strengths are that I am very passionate about education, I am a leader, I am organized, very open minded and flexible and I am a fast-paced learner. I have great people skills and am good at conflict resolution. I am a great communicator and make sure others voice and opinions are always heard. I love people, I am very social and I am not afraid to advocate for others or stand up for what’s right. I am not afraid of challenges; I feel they are opportunities for growth and learning. Above all I love God, my family, my friends, my dogs and just LIFE!
