About Cecil Benjamin

Cecil’s early career in finance included accounting and financial controllership roles in Australia, USA and a stint in Mexico, working with Australian and US companies. Then Cecil changed career with 10 years in professional ministry with the Uniting Church, Australia, serving congregations around Sydney. With his family, Cecil also spent time serving in Manila, Philippines, and had several visits to India learning and teaching micro-business development especially in slums and villages Cecil co-founded Benkorp Management Services in 1995 with partner Jeanette Korporaal. Benkorp has continued providing the SME and NFP sectors with management accounting, systems setup and maintenance services - over clients. Cecil has been an innovator for methods and procedures to streamline administration within clients’ administration. Cecil has mentored many people to start their own business or an NFP/charity. For many years Cecil’s activities in Australia, SE Asia, and Africa have included consulting services for many NFPs and churches to assist them in helping people out of poverty. Person-to-person he has led many forms of small groups, for sharing and teaching, and co-started a “homeless peoples’ breakfast” in inner-Sydney. Cecil’s main voluntary activities since 2002 have been in other countries; speaking at conferences, teaching and mentoring including personal one-to-one and small groups - mainly related to business and money management. NGOs and churches have used Cecil’s expertise and relational style to assist with community development projects to assist people to start and grow all forms of micro businesses such as village traders, farmers, and service businesses. Cecil has worked on sustainability projects for NGOs seeking to develop their own forms of self-funding. Benkorp are the "church accounting specialists". We provide full service from setup and training and ongoing support. We can also provide ongoing bookkeeping by sharing tasks with your organisation or providing full outsourced service.
