About Cecile Mathys

I am a Ph.D in Psychology and Associate Professor at the University of Liège, in the department of criminology in the faculty of Law, Political Science and Criminology. In addition to teaching graduate courses and supervision, I conduct researches in the field of adolescence and juvenile delinquency. For example, I'm co-promotor (with Lieven Pauwels, university of Ghent) of a Ph.D project related to the study of an integrated model for the explanation of adolescent offending, examining individual, social, and situational characteristics. I'm also co-promotor of a Belspo project related to the evaluation of the Belgian alcohol law 2009. In addition, I'm a clinical psychologist in the area of inadaptation and supervisor/former for social workers (related to contracts for the "Direction Générale de l'Aide à la jeunesse"). Expertise: peer relations and peer influence, group and social climate, deviancy training processes and iatrogenic effects, interventions in residential care setting, risky and antisocial behaviors in adolescence.
